My baby crawled around inside a playpen, while I sat for 12 hours cleaning the floors, and removing wallpaper. Ha! The home was starting to look good, but there were a few things that needed to be left. It would take a great deal of effort and an enthusiasm of shopping. For my budget to remain sound, I travelled with my three boys in search for bargains at estate sales. Our weekly routine was to walk from Thursday through Saturday through garage sales to purchase a mix of antique and brand new furniture and then I would spend weekends painting and sanding the driveway. What I saw looked something like... that's when my desire to repair furniture was born. Although our house was equipped, I couldn't stop. There was an area in the market in which I sold my items. I could outgrow the area because I had many more pieces than I could use. My house was transformed into a space that I hosted open houses, where up 1000 people would be able to view items from the first floor, and then purchase the items. Growing Days was founded in my house. My company was flourishing and my family was also growing. It was a balance between starting a business as well as being a mom. Growing Days was the obvious decision. The year was 2013, and my sweet daughter Nora joined our 4th child. My company was doing well but I was in need of a break. I took a pause from creating vintage furniture and I slowed down my speed to be at home to help my children. This was just what I needed. In the course of a few months, my phone started to ring. A lot of people contacted me seeking advice regarding home improvements and decor. The majority of them were the ones who had strolled through my house during furniture open houses! It wasn't long before I had a fully-fledged home renovation company. I began by taking clients one by one in a manner that I felt confident in. You would probably have made me laugh if I had told you that this would become the basis of an DIY Network tv series. As I reflect back, it still makes me giggle.
